Vital Design is open for business after a devastating ice storm struck NH and the greater Northeast region, knocking out power for hundreds of thousands and generally crippling the area. Called the worst power outage in NH history.

While a few of our homes still don’t have power, Vital Design survived the ice storm just fine, being able to run with reduced staff at our downtown Portsmouth office on Friday and most of us able to come in Monday. In case you’ve been living under a rock – or cut off from the world because of a lack of power – the storm brought the most widespread power outage in New Hampshire’s history beginning Thursday night/Friday morning when the first branches cracked and sagged into power lines. In all, we’ve been very fortunate compared to many of our neighbors.

It was an unsettling scene around these parts beginning Friday as people scrambled to get gas, generators and other supplies. Half-mile lines and two-hour waits at gas stations. A general feeling of anxiety and panic in the grocery stores. But also lots of people being extra nice and offering help in any way they can/could.
