Pinterest was one of our “Six Social Networks You’re Not Using to Their Full Potential” last week, and although we’re social media early adopters here at Vital, we hadn’t spent much time exploring the virtual pinboard site ourselves. I decided to give it a whirl and see what kind of potential it has for social media marketing, and give you a little tutorial on setting up your own pinboard. Hope it’s helpful!

Meet Pinterest

First of all, you need to be invited to use Pinterest. If you want an invite, shoot an email to your most stylish female friends, or anyone planning a wedding. There’s probably a good chance they’re using it already, and they can invite you. (Pinterest seems to be very much still a girls’ club, but I think as it gains cred as a sharing space for design, photography and art, we’ll see the demographics even out).

You’ll need to set up an account. You can choose to link with your Facebook or Twitter account or leave it separate. You’ll create a user name and password, and then Pinterest will prompt you to select from some areas of interest (Design, Architecture, Film/TV, Women’s Fashion, etc.)

Once you select these, Pinterest will automatically set you up to follow some users in those categories. If you set up your account through Facebook, it will also add any of your Facebook friends who also have their Facebook and Pinterest accounts linked. You can always unfollow these users later.

Start Pinning

The next step is to create your pinboards. Pinterest will prompt you to create five boards (you can have as many as you want, this is just to get started). You can categorize these any way you like. I made one for design inspiration, one for fashion, one for DIY projects and one for books I’m reading. Next, you’ll want to add a “Pin It” button to your bookmarks tool bar. In Firefox and Chrome, all you have to do is open your bookmarks and drag and drop the “Pin It” button onto the toolbar. You can now use this button as you’re surfing around the web, to “pin” things to your pinboards. When you find something you want to pin, just click the button. Pinterest will open up a page asking which item on the page you want to pin and which board it should be pinned to. The whole interface works very smoothly, and only interrupts your Web browsing for a few seconds.

Find People

If you selected some areas of interest when you set up your account, your homepage will already contain some pins. If you like these users, do nothing, but if they don’t fit you, just unfollow their pins by going to their page and hitting the big unfollow button beneath their profile picture. You can also choose to follow only certain boards by a user.

Make Connections

Now is the time to start thinking like a social media marketer! Pinterest is a great forum for creatives like interior designers, photographers, fashion designers and retailers…the list goes on. Start finding accounts that are similar to you, and accounts that could be potential sales leads. What does a potential sales lead look like on Pinterest? Well, that depends. If you’re a clothing designer, you want to be looking for people like fashion bloggers and editors, buyers for stores and other people talking about fashion and design. If you’re a wedding photographer, start following wedding magazines and the many, many Pinterest accounts that are devoted to wedding planning. (You get the idea). If you understand Twitter, you can understand Pinterest–in fact, Pinterest is a lot like a visual version of Twitter. You want to be pinning your work and things that inspire your work, and you want as many people as possible to see, like and re-pin your posts–especially your original ones. Curate the pinboards you follow, and use the comment and re-pin function to engage.

We love that Pinterest is intensely visual, making it a perfect place for creative people like designers and photographers to share their work. It also makes it incredibly easy for people to share your posts to their followers, which means it’s easy for something to go viral. Pinterest doesn’t have the widespread base that Twitter or Facebook gives you, but depending on the kind of business you have it might actually be easier to target your audience through Pinterest. For example, if you’re a florist who does a lot of weddings, you’ll find that Pinterest offers you a huge community of potential sales leads that’s already curated for you. To see some local businesses doing cool things with Pinterest, check out Gus & Ruby Letterpress, Concetta’s Closet and Pixels and Pulp.

And it’s not just great local businesses taking advantage of Pinterest. Check out these seven brands who are burning up Pinterest with their marketing awesomeness (post via @hubspot).

In addition to that, people who pin tend to pin a lot. If you come up with something that people on Pinterest like, you’ll have many passionate “pinners” sharing your work all across the site. Pinterest definitely won’t work for every company, but we think that for a certain types of businesses it has incredible potential for social media marketing.

Are you using Pinterest, either personally or for your business? Do you find that it helps you generate leads, find interesting companies, or something else? We’re just getting started on Pinterest so we’d love to here how you’re using it and what you think!

Vital takes pride in all of our clients, but there are a handful that inspire us on a daily basis.

Being a Web design company, we might not be able to change the world, but we can certainly help. In Paula Abdul’s words, “Our gift to you is the stage, what you do with it, is your gift to us.” (Yes, you did just read that – shout out to Paula for her wisdom this season on the X Factor.) We build the stage for many great organizations who spend their time and energy helping others.

To give back to our most giving clients during this holiday season, we’d like to share their stories. Be inspired, be moved. Heck, go ahead and donate even.

Northeast Passage

NEP empowers individuals with disabilities to define, pursue, and achieve their therapeutic recreation and adaptive sports goals. Founded in 1990, NEP is now a program of the College of Health and Human Services at the University of New Hampshire. Hiking, golf, quad rugby and cross-country skiing are just a few of the sports made available to people with disabilities through their efforts.

With a staff of certified therapeutic recreation specialists and a variety of volunteers from UNH’s recreational therapy and outdoor education programs, Northeast Passage has a passionate team that is constantly searching for ways to bring more recreation opportunities to people with disabilities. NEP opens the door to a world many felt closed.

And to that end, they even rent equipment. Their rental program makes it affordable to try it before you buy it. All of Northeast Passage’s programs give people with disabilities and their families the opportunity of choice and freedom they deserve. Check them out www.nepassage.org.

IMEC

The International Medical Equipment Collaborative is one of the leading organizations in the world bringing equipment and supplies to people in need across the globe. Their mission is to transform impoverished communities around the world by providing equipment and supplies to doctors, teachers, and farmers so they can better serve their communities.

IMEC’s programs also help the environment while helping the poor. Donations of used equipment from doctor’s offices, hospitals and other medical facilities that would otherwise be discarded are packaged into medical suites. With new supplies supplementing when necessary, suites contain everything needed to turn an empty room into a fully equipped hospital room. Recently, IMEC has begun to provide maternal/infant/pediatric medical suites as well as sets of tools and equipment to small family farms. The organization plans to expand into other services as well, going far beyond medical equipment. This is truly an organization that makes a difference! Check them out www.imecamerica.org.

And we would be remiss if we didn’t give a holler to all our nonprofit clients… Clean Air-Cool Planet, Conservation New Hampshire, Cross Roads House, Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, HubFamilies, IMEC, New Hampshire Film Festival, Northeast Passage, Portsmouth Community Radio WSCA-FM, Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity, UNH’s Citizen’s Health Initiative. Thank you for all of your dedication and hard work. We appreciate the effort and passion you put into your organizations and our community.

We hope you’ve been inspired to do some good. There’s a whole lot to be done.

An automatic email newsletter can be a great way to let your established customers and fans know about what’s going on at your business.

Once you’ve built an address book of contacts who have an interest in your business, an email newsletter is a perfect way to keep those contacts engaged. There are many services that you can pay to create and send email blasts to your contacts, but a favorite of ours is MailChimp, a service that is free up to 2,000 contacts and 12,000 emails a month. (If you need more contacts or monthly emails, MailChimp’s pricing is reasonable and has both monthly and pay-as-you-go options that will fit any budget).

MailChimp has a suite of tools that allow you to create custom email newsletters without needing to know anything about coding or design software–think of it as a WordPress or Blogspot for e-mail newsletters. It can be an easy process even for someone who isn’t familiar with Web development. MailChimp can pull a logo and company colors right from your Web site and add them to your newsletter template automatically.

You can also choose from a variety of templates already on the site, or link your MailChimp account to your Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, iTunes or Etsy page. MailChimp can add social widgets to your emails too, so that you’re reminding your contacts to follow you each time they receive an email. The coolest feature of MailChimp, and the one that powers blog-fed automatic newsletters, is being able to link the RSS feed of your blog content. This RSS feed capability allows you to decide if you’d like to email your readers daily, weekly or monthly.

Email marketing, like all online marketing, requires that you keep people interested. You can’t just flood your contacts’ inboxes with emails and expect the sales leads to roll in. You need to provide something interesting and useful to your subscribers. Reward your email subscribers with occasional perks–access to an online sale a few days early, a code for free shipping, or just a simple “mention this email for 20% off your meal.”

Think about how often you should be sending out updates. Once a month is a good minimum to stick to, but if you have a business such as a restaurant or retail location that has weekly specials, you may want to do every week or every two weeks. Do not send out email newsletters that don’t provide something useful or interesting simply because you’re trying to stick to a schedule. Most importantly, keep your emails short, sweet and enjoyable. A long, boring mass email is very simply not going to be read. Ask yourself–if this showed up in my inbox, would I take the two minutes it takes to read it?

Using a service like MailChimp can help you get the word out about each new blog post you publish. Although your subscribers might not always remember to visit your business blog, if they receive an email from you once or twice a month sharing the latest news and blog posts, they’ll return to your site and you’ll stay on their radar.

If you’re ready to get started, MailChimp has a great guide to getting started with email marketing, and loads of other guides for specific aspects of email marketing. And if you want to start using email marketing but just don’t have the time, we can help! We provide email marketing campaigns through MailChimp for many of our clients, and we’d love to help with yours. Get in touch with us by phone or email, or on Twitter or Facebook.

Caramel apple? Treat.
Snickers bar? Treat.
Blizzard before Halloween? Definitely a trick.

A pre-Halloween storm that dumped as much as 30 inches of snow on some areas of New England and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands was among Mother Nature’s most fearsome pranks. But there are things to learn from this fluke October storm if you’re considering a new or redesigned website for your business (yes, we’ve got Web design on the brain). Here are five things our fickle New Hampshire climate can teach us about Web design:

1. Leave some things to the pros

Does your website say “poor schmo trying to dig two feet of snow off his car with a six-inch scraper from CVS,” or is it more like “I’m going to call their plow guy next storm?”

When your company has a professionally-built site, you look more like the guy with the clean driveway, the generator and a halogen headlamp. Some work just takes training, style and skill. Web design is that kind of work. Investing in a professionally designed website that includes a content and lead generation strategy can help you weather slow times by gathering leads and attention. A WordPress content management system on your site means you can have a business blog to post original content as often as you like, can do wonders for your SEO ranking.

2. Be ready to change your plan

Before a big storm, you buy groceries, fill your gas tank and stock up on batteries (or at least you know you should). Even if you don’t need these supplies, you’re ready to act if things take a turn for the worse. Independence and flexibility are also advantages of having a Web site built professionally. For one, you’re getting expert input on the organization of your site. Also, with a content management system like WordPress, you can change things yourself quickly. For example, if your store is closed because you have three feet of snow on Oct. 30, anyone from your company can hop online and update customers on your Web site in minutes.

3. Make your needs clear

If you were affected by the storm, you probably heard repeated pleas of power companies to notify them if your power was out, because they have no automatic way to tell if power is down in a specific house or building. They don’t know what you need unless you tell them.

The same goes for your site visitors. Your new website needs to have a clear, user-friendly navigation system, because otherwise your visitors (i.e., potential new clients) don’t know what you want from them. Do you want them to buy something? To fill out a contact form or call you? Make an appointment? Make sure that you’re directing your visitors to the right place so they can take advantage of your services as easily as possible. (And become leads for your sales team.)

4. Be social

No cable. No Internet. Laptop’s dead, phone’s dead…it’s no wonder you learn a lot about people during a blackout. Used well, social media can be the online equivalent of a candlelight game of Monopoly. It’s a great chance to build relationships and learn more about each other. A storm also leads to a lot more people helping each other out–checking on elderly neighbors, sharing supplies, or pitching in with the post-storm clean up. Sites like Twitter and Facebook can be your opportunity to help out in a different way: by answering questions and providing information that is interesting, useful or just plain cool to your customers and prospects. You’ve heard us say over and over that your business needs a social media strategy, and part of that strategy is having visible, easy to use links or widgets for your social media accounts. On-page feeds of your social media accounts are also a great way to give visitors a preview of the kind of content you post before they start following you.

5. Be found

It’s safe to say that nobody was ready for the October blizzard. Snow shovels, winter boots and warm clothes were still packed away. Everyone was scrambling to find their winter gear. And just like your ski coat can’t keep you warm from a dusty corner of the attic, you can’t reach customers from the 15th page of search results. Having a search engine optimization strategy is absolutely key to building a successful online presence. You might have an amazing company with a terrific website, but if no one can find you, that site ain’t gonna get you found. Deciding what you want to be found for, choosing your keywords and optimizing your site for those keywords is the beginning of an SEO strategy that will help your business get found easier and faster. And it just might get you rescued from a blizzard. (Not really, but we had to tie this together.)

Supporting a charity or cause is a great way for businesses to connect with their customers and show them that they really care about the local community.

So we were excited – as caffeine addicts, marketers, and members of the Seacoast community – to see a special offer from Popovers on the Square which will happen Wednesday.

As part of celebrating its fifth anniversary in business, the European bistro-style cafe will donate 50% of the price of each coffee-based product sold on Aug. 10 (from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m) to the cause of creating a memorial park for the African Burying Ground. Additionally, Popovers owner John Tinios will match every donation personally.

The African Burying Ground effort strives to memorialize those buried in a part of the city identified on a 1705 map as “Negro Burying Ground.” The area was paved over when the city expanded in subsequent years.

Coffins in the area at the intersection of Court and Chestnut streets were accidentally unearthed in 2003 by city workers. The city of Portsmouth has since formed a blue ribbon committee to create a memorial at the site.

To make a small donation to the effort, all you need to do is buy a coffee at Popovers on the Square, strategically positioned in Market Square, on Wednesday.

The promotion essentially means that 100% of all coffee sales on Wednesday at Popovers will be donated to the African Burying Ground. It is a generous offer from Mr. Tinios.

And be sure to tweet this, share it on Facebook, post to Google+ or share it in whatever way is going to spread the word. Download a flyer in support of the effort here.

If you’re not using the Internet to market your company and get found by prospects through search engines, please accept our invitation to join the 21st century.

We kid! But seriously, people want to pay you money for your services or products. Trouble is, they don’t see you when they search on Google for that thing your company provides.

Lucky for you, inbound marketing company HubSpot has published a free, downloadable ebook on Internet marketing. We checked it out and cribbed some of the best tips for you. An Internet marketing plan can be a lot to tackle on your own. We’re here to help so feel free to contact Vital with any questions.

1. Choose Your Keywords Wisely.

Pick about five keywords that you want your business to be found for, and be sure to use them in your website content. If you are a small to medium-sized company, try to avoid widely used words like “company” and “business” when choosing your keywords. They’re so widely used that they won’t help you get found. Instead of trying to be found for “software company,” for example, try to be slightly more specific: “NH software,” “educational software” or “software for teachers” are better choices. (But don’t be too specific. Very specific keywords technically boost your SEO rating, but they don’t do anything for you if no one is searching those terms).

2. Optimize For Your Keywords.

It is great to include the keywords and search terms for which you want to rank on Google, but be sure you are still writing content for the end user, not just Google. Don’t try to squeeze in as many search terms as possible all over your site. Another way to maximize your SEO is to link your search terms to other pages of your site that relate to that search term. Also, make sure you name your images with search terms when you save the files and with ALT tags when you (or your Web developer) puts them on your site. Search engines don’t “see” images, just text.

3. Create Content.

We love business blogs. When you create lots of original content (integrating your keywords of course) you boost your SEO ranking. A blog gives you a chance to add pages to your site each time you publish a new post. Because your blog will have interesting, remarkable content (as HubSpot would say) such as industry news, company news, and community-related info, it becomes something other people will link to and share through social media. This increases your number of inbound links, which has beneficial search results. You should also use Facebook and/or Twitter and/or LinkedIn and other social networking sites to promote new blog content. Social media can help boost your page views and, in turn, your SEO.

3. Turn Clicks Into Cash.

Once you have a base of people following you on social media sites and visiting your site or blog, turn those clicks into sales. Try promoting a special offer on your site and on your social media pages—you may bring in new customers. Experiment with different ways of doing this to see what kinds of promotions help you connect with your audience. (HubSpot has lots more tips in their ebook).

4. Go Mobile.

Talk to your developers about optimizing your site for mobile so it can be viewed on smart phones and tablets. Add a QR code to your print materials so potential clients can scan it and be directed right to your site. Offer mobile-friendly offers using Facebook Places or Foursquare.

5. Analyze. Then Adapt.

Keep an eye on your analytics. How much of your site traffic is repeat readers? How many viewers are you getting, and from what sources? Who is linking to your site? If you’re not getting the results you want, you may have to make tweaks to your strategy. Would more specific keywords get you found more easily? Do you need to start posting more or better content to your blog so that other people want to link to it? It’s important to take a step back and look at your strategy and think about if there’s anything you could be doing better.

This is just scratching the surface of HubSpot’s ebook—be sure to check it out for yourself. Want some help? Vital Design can help you with all your Internet marketing needs.

If you’ve been thinking that it’s time to add Twitter to your business’ marketing toolkit, inbound marketing company HubSpot has a great (and free) ebook about getting started with Twitter for your business. (Vital has been using Twitter for business since 2008.) It’s packed with great tips, but it’s 40 pages long. Don’t have time for that right now? You’re in luck. We read it and pulled out some of the most important points for you.

Where do I start?

First you have to open an account on Twitter. It’s quick, free and easy. Decide whether you want a business account or a personal account that will promote your business. First, you’ll have to choose a username. If you’re going to be using the site as a business page, your username should be your company name, without any extraneous punctuation or underscore if possible. If you’ll be creating a personal account, choose something professional that uses your real name and possibly integrates your profession or company name (For example: JaneDoe, JDoe, WebDesignJane, VitalJane).

To personalize your page, upload a company logo (for a business page) or a professional, friendly looking photo of yourself (for a personal page). This will be your avatar, and it will appear as a thumbnail next to your tweets. Here, you should also add your full (and real) name and a short bio. The bio should be part personal and part “elevator pitch.” You want to get the word out about your work, but it’s also important to seem like a real person.

Who do I follow?

Check out Twitter’s “Who to Follow” suggestions. They’ll automatically find other Twitter accounts in similar industries and/or geographic areas as you, and suggest that you follow them. Watch for @ replies in tweets from other people you’re following, then check out the account they were tweeting to. That might be an interesting person for you to follow too!

Follow media outlets as well. Many newspapers and magazines have Twitter accounts, and some papers are starting to have individual reporters create personal accounts. Follow your interests and the advice of the people you follow. Also, find out if industry and local bloggers tweet. These can all become great relationships to build on when you have press releases or news tips to share with local publications and sites.

What do I do with it?

Start talking! You can send a public message (an @ reply, pronounced “at reply”) to someone by placing @theirusername somewhere in your tweet. It’s best to put it somewhere in the tweet instead of at the beginning, because when you put it at the beginning of the tweet, the message is only visible to people who follow both you and the person you are messaging. (So write, “Hey there @Vital_Design, what’s up” instead of “@Vital_Design, what’s up?”).

You can use @ replies to send a message, to reply to another person’s tweet with an opinion or idea, or to tag another person in a post that you think they’d be interested in. Don’t just send out links to your own products and company news—join the conversation.

Can I talk about me now?

Twitter is not about shooting advertising out into cyberspace in 140-character bursts. It’s about conversing, collaborating and meeting people. In the past, marketing was “outbound” via print, radio, television. But with modern technology, it’s become easy for people to block out all of that. Twitter is a perfect example of inbound marketing because businesses can make connections with prospective clients or vendors by sharing the type of information those audiences are interested in. This helps companies build relationships before it is time for a sale.

To interact with potential clients and customers, you need to join the conversation. Share links, use @replies and direct messages, and promote other people. Most of all, act like a real person, not a robot. Share amusing tidbits from life or work. Post links to articles that pertain to your industry, or upload a funny (appropriate!) picture from an office event.

How will people know I tweet?

Install a Twitter widget (or at the very least a link to your account) on your company’s homepage so people can follow you right from the site. Make sure that all your email marketing includes a mention of your Twitter account and the URL (twitter.com/username). You should also put it on print materials such as business cards and leave-behinds, and you might even want to include your username in your email signature. When you are at tradeshows, conferences, networking meet-ups or other events, put your Twitter handle on your nametag along with your real name, and collect other people’s Twitter usernames so you can follow them when you get home (or right from your mobile device).

HubSpot’s guide has more detailed info and lots more tips for optimizing Twitter for marketing, and you can find more of our own tips and tricks for social media marketing here.

If you use social media marketing for your business, you probably use Facebook for reaching customers. But is your page stalled at only a few fans? Did you set it up and then rarely update it?

Facebook recently made some changes to their business pages, which have made Facebook into an even more effective tool for reaching potential clients and customers. Facebook business pages give your company a home on the most visited website on the Internet. That means that you have a huge number of potential fans, but also that it’s easy to get lost. So if you want to start tapping the true potential of your Facebook page, here are five things that your business page needs:

1. Smart promotion

Don’t just send your Facebook page to everyone in your personal friends list. Put a link to your Facebook page in your business email signature so every email you send is accompanied by a reminder to “Like” your business. If you have a email marketing list, send out reminders about your page and encourage clients to join the Facebook page. Send these out repeatedly. Make sure that there is a blurb on all your printed materials touting your Facebook page. If your business has a physical office, put a small sign on the front desk or the window reminding visitors to become Facebook fans.

2. Personal involvement
If you host events, take plenty of photos and encourage fans to tag themselves in those photos, or tag them yourself. Don’t use the page strictly for serious marketing–encourage fans to send questions and comments, and occasionally just throw out a fun question for your fans. (i.e., “We’re ready for summer here at Vital Design–what’s your plan to beat the heat?”) Letting fans know that there are real people behind the Facebook page will help fans feel connected to you and your business. And yes, this will take some time, but remembering to log in every day and spend even a short amount of time updating the page and communicating with your fans makes a big difference.

3. Widgets
Facebook now lets you put “Like” buttons and other Facebook widgets on your business Web page, so that everyone who will be reminded to like your Facebook page every time they visit. If you have a Facebook page, you must promote it on your homepage–these widgets are a great, graphically appealing way to do that. You can get the plugin in the Facebook Developer’s page here, and there are more advanced tips about adding and tracking social media buttons at Yoast. (Thanks to Vital’s Jesse Rand for the find).

4. Link up with personal pages
Put a link to your business’ Facebook page in the “Something about myself” box under your Facebook profile photo. You can also link to your business Facebook page in a status update using the @ function. Putting an @ before your business name will tag your business page in the post, which will put a link right in your status. (Check out the new stuff we’re up to at @Vital Design!) Encourage the staff of your business to do this too, if they’d like. Also consider using a program like HootSuite or Tweetdeck that will allow you to share news and links to all your social media accounts at once.

5. Mobile connectivity
Fans can link up to your Facebook page from their phones if their phones are verified as a mobile device on their account. You’ll need 25 “likes” and a verified username. Then people can just send a text to 32665 with the words fan (your username). This could work great if you are hosting a mobile event because attendees could like your page from the audience. Texting to Like a page is also useful in TV and radio spots.

What do you think? What strategies have you used to make your Facebook Page a more effective way to communicate with your audience?

When we’re busy doing website design, social media and graphic design here at Vital Design, it’s easy to stay in touch with our friends, clients and community on our Twitter account, Facebook page and our other social media sites. A tweet doesn’t shake hands, though, and a Facebook “Like” is no substitute for catching up with our clients, coworkers and friends in person. RSVP here!

That’s why we’re throwing our annual Summer Kick-Off at the Portsmouth Gas Light Co. on Tues., June 21 at 5 p.m. in partnership with IOS, Nerd 1-1, and Sperry Tents. Grab a drink on us and some light hors d’ouerves, and enjoy meeting and networking with people from businesses from both IOS buildings and around Portsmouth. It’s always a fun event and there will be prizes such as Red Sox tickets and NH Film Festival passes.

A face-to-face chat is absolutely the best way to meet people, network and build relationships. Nothing beats a little old fashioned social networking–cocktails and conversation on the Gas Light deck. Significant others are encouraged to attend.

The Summer Kick-Off event is free, and you can register and RSVP here. (That’s right–prizes, schmoozing, drinks and it’s free!) Come join us for a perfect opportunity to meet people, celebrate the start of summer, and turn your Facebook friends into face-to-face friends.

The team at NH website design firm, Vital Design is excited to launch Abraham & Ichabod Arts, a new website for children’s author and illustrator Joseph A. Vitterito II MD. The cheery, whimsical site introduces Abraham R. Chuzzlewit–Vitterito’s dog and literary alter ego–and Vitterito himself, a local neonatologist and “the guy who holds Abraham’s pencil.”

The site features WordPress as a content management system (CMS) and allows Joe to update the site himself. He can edit the content, add photos and create blog posts and news updates, which are great for search engine optimization (SEO – getting found on Google).

On the site, you’ll find a new online store for Vitterito’s books, and a link to Pawz Off Threads, where Vitterito sells a variety of T-shirts, caps and print materials featuring his artwork and the slogan “Just Woof It.”

Some of Vitterito’s newest books are “Ichabod is Not a Duck” and “Theophilus, the Porcupine Who Wanted to Play Volleyball,” both of which can be purchased online. Visitors can connect to Abraham and Ichabod Arts with their social media accounts, including Facebook and Twitter social media marketing – a great strategy for keeping in touch with fans.

Vital Design used many of Vitterito’s original drawings to bring splashes of quirky joy to the new site, a sweet nod to the people Vitterito strives to please the most: kids. “I don’t want to be famous,” Vitterito said, “But if a child finds joy in my stories and my drawings, if they get the point…there’s my fame.”

Vitterito said he was very pleased with the new Web page. “It really captures what I wanted,” he said. “It’s a perfect place for me to spread news, sell books and share whatever other stuff comes out of the mind of Abraham R. Chuzzlewit and company.”

What do you think?
