As an award-winning inbound marketing agency with a focus on SEO strategy, you’ll never guess where we were last week. Vital was proud to send ten members of our inbound team to the annual four-day HubSpot INBOUND marketing conference in Boston. This year’s INBOUND conference was September 15–18 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center and featured the who’s who of digital marketing and SEO strategists.

Who went:

  • Chris Getman— Director of Inbound
  • Dave Currier- SEO Strategy
  • Tim Bottomley— VP of Sales & Digital Marketing
  • Julia Ahumada— Director of Brand Strategy
  • Doug Ridley— Director of Content Marketing & Social Media
  • Halie Olszowy— Social Media Assistant
  • Chuck McMahon— Content Manager
  • Crystal Paradis— Content Strategist & Copywriter
  • Alex Shaffer— Project Manager & Copywriter
  • Zachary Gregg— Managing Partner and Digital Marketing Director

We listened to Guy Kawasaki, Malcolm Gladwell, Simon Sinek, Martha Stewart and Shiza Shahid give big-picture keynote marketing presentations, along with HubSpot’s co-founders, Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah. Other speakers of note included SEO strategists, digital marketing agency pros, content strategists and inbound marketing agency professionals sharing best practices, success stories and lessons learned. Many of the sessions were informative and actionable, and some were more inspiring and thought-provoking. All shared an acute focus on digital and inbound marketing strategies with a subplot of communications and storytelling.  Stay tuned for a follow-up article on lessons learned at HubSpot’s #INBOUND 14 where we will attempt to share the state of inbound marketing as told through our inbound marketing attendees.

This year was especially unique for Vital. Unlike years past, Vital is now a HubSpot Partner Agency. Being a HubSpot Partner Agency meant getting the red carpet treatment in Boston along with special access to partner-only Partner Track sessions geared specifically to SEO strategy, agency growth and sales positioning for inbound marketing agencies. As Zac Gregg said, “I could have parked myself in the partner sessions all day, I can’t believe all the amazing inbound marketing insights we’ve missed without our partner passes in past years. It makes being a HubSpot Partner Agency even more valuable than I ever thought.” Ever the entrepreneur, Zac continued, “The best part of these sessions were lessons that any business would pay to learn from—covering how to build successful businesses and company cultures that thrive. It was incredible stuff.”

Vital believes that to stay competitive in an industry that is changing as rapidly as the world of content marketing, SEO strategy, digital marketing and social media, you must invest in education and learn from peer organizations and professionals. A key element to Vital’s rapid growth and success, specifically in inbound marketing and SEO, has been our commitment to embracing new ideas and strategies, and investing the time to learn, test and practice these tools on our own agency. In doing so, we can see the results for ourselves and bring our own successes to our clients. Our goal is to become our own best inbound marketing case study. We’re happy to have spent another great four days at HubSpot’s INBOUND in Boston and are reenergized and inspired to bring what we’ve learned to our clients. We can’t wait to put these new ideas into practice and further step up our SEO strategy, content marketing and inbound marketing game.  Next years dates are already booked in our calendars and our goal is to double Vital’s attendees…watch out Boston, MA.
